The Airedale Terrier was bred from a Welsh Terrier and an Otterhound, the breed has also been called the Waterside Terrier, because it was bred originally to hunt otters in and around the valleys of the River Aire. So, a good swimming ability has been bread into the Airedale.
For me there is no other dog that can come near the qualities of the Airedale!
