Airdales love the bush and being real dogs , I have had them for years , your right about not being over handled , very independent dog , but loyal , bloody naughty though ,,,personally wouldn’t own one in a city as they love being in the mix of stuff , not a excessory to ones hand bag , or brat kids , let them be what they are breed for , in the country on the back of trucks with their owner all day , not doggy daycare bullshit! Who could resist playing with a cute looking Airedale Terrier puppy? With the new year almost upon us, have you been thinking about a cute little furry puppy companion? There is just something about the Airedale Terrier that draws you into them. Perhaps, is their standard black and brown coloring. This color scheme is very similar to a large number of teddy bears that many of us had as children growing up. So, now that we are adults and thinking about adding a dog to our family, perhaps those childhood memories of your teddy bears have some influence toward getting an Airedale Terrier puppy.

Mountain Airedales Kissing

Mountain Airedales Kissing – Annie & Oakley

In this video it looks like Oakley is kissing Annie. Actually, Annie occasionally has goopy eyes and on this occasion Oakley noticed this and just decided to assist Annie in her grooming.

We’ve had both of these Oorang Airedales (aka Mountain Airedales), since they were eight weeks old! Even though there is a big weight difference, because of their great personalities they get along fabulously. Annie still has all her puppy energy while Oakley at 10 years old is much more mellow. Shelter Dog Cries Every Time He’s Touched ā€” Until He is Loved

Kanye the shelter puppy couldn’t stop crying out in pain when anyone came near him because he’d never felt a gentle touch.

But then he met this woman, and she knew exactly how to transform him into the most trusting dog.

This was heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time! So awful what people can do to animals. I’m so happy that he met that woman, bless her soul. šŸ™‚

Airedale Terrier and Rottweiler at Play

Posey the Airedale Terrier and Kelvin the Rottweiler show how two very different breeds with two very different play styles can mess them together so nicely!

Airedales are just great! I don’t think there is a better dog for kids on the planet than an Airedale. I don’t think there is a better dog period. They are incredible.

Great vid but in my experiences the docility of this breed is very dependant on the breeder. They can range from being extremely gentle to downright nuts depending on their breeding.

The Airedale was developed from the OTTERHOUND and THE OLD ENGLISH BLACK &TAN TERRIER, which is now extinct. NOT THE WELSH TERRIER, the Old English Black & Tan looks very much like the Welsh Terrier. That said, the Airedale is not AGGRESSIVE.

Two very cute mountain Airedale Terrier puppies:

The Oorang Airedale (also known as a Mountain Airedale or King Airedale) is the largest of the Airedales and can weigh 70 to 110 lbs.

Airedales are sometimes referred to as “King of Terriers” due to the fact they are the largest Terrier. They were developed for hunting otters and also to assist the police. Airedales are bred for hunting and working and because of that, they are independent, stubborn, and intelligent. When properly trained, they can be great family companions, but they need an engaged owner. Airedales have wonderful dispositions and are easily trained. California Airedale Terrier – Scary Airedale

Scary California Airedale Terrier

Well, we all know that Airedale Terriers are anything but scary! Actually, I think one of the reasons they’re popular is because the standard black and tan Airedale Terrier looks likeĀ  a teddy bear!

How many little kids grew up with teddy bears? So, it’s probably natural that when they see an Airedale Terrier they are reminded of the stuffed animal that they had when they were little kid.

An Airedale is a quick learner and can be trained very easily. But, it also gets bored quickly, and requires regular mental and physical stimulation. A long walk, a chance to romp through a safe area or a physically tiring game should be good enough for this. A bored Airedale is known to fill up a yard with holes in one evening. California Rattlesnakes dog safety

If you own dogs in the Western United States, you should be vigilant about poisonous snakes on trails or in your backyard. Here in San Diego California there are a couple of varieties of rattlesnakes that you will encounter on a hiking trails and open areas on the fringes of the city and the county of San Diego.

Because my house borders a small San Diego city Park, I always scan the fence lines and the backyard prior to putting the dogs out, to be sure there are no rattlesnakes. this video was produced in late September and I had just gone out in the backyard and looked around and didn’t see anything so I let both of my Airedale Terriers out. It was about 11:30 PM, and when my smaller female Airedale was within about 18 inches to 2 feet of my backyard fence I heard the distinctive rattle of a rattlesnake. My larger Airedale was right at my side, so I grabbed him by the collar as I yelled at the smaller Airedale to come over to me. Airedale Puppy Training – Airedale Terrier puppy training

Airedale Terriers are very smart dogs and thereforeĀ  usually easy to train. This video shows the training of a three-month-old Airedale Terrier puppy.

My personal observations about training and/or playing with in Airedale Terrier is that they do bore easily. Therefore, I would suggest not to linger on a single command for too long and have your training sessions at least once a day, always with multiple commands and plenty of treats.
