Airedale Terrier Agility

Airedale Terrier Agility

This is a great video not only showing how agile an Airedale Terrier can be, but also showing how smart they are and eager to please their human companions.

From my own experience, having owned 6 Airedales now, I can say they’re very smart and usually easy to train. They just love pleasing their human companions. Continue reading “Airedale Terrier Agility”

Airedale Terrier Versatility

Airedale Terrier Versatility

Airedale Terrier breeders Harriet and Hartmut Rosenthal show the amazing versatility of an Airedale Terrier.

Because of their intelligence the Airedale Terrier is a quick learner, but when training one must always be on the lookout for overdoing one set of actions or commands that can lead to classic Airedale boredom and stubbornness to continue.

It’s usually best to break up Airedale training sessions and to always vary the lessons.

The Airedale Terrier gets its name from the Aire River valley, or dale, in Yorkshire where it was first bred. It was developed by crossing the Welsh terrier with the Otterhound in the mid-19th century to hunt otters and other rodents. Hounds and terriers were the dogs of choice on hunting trips in those days in England. Hounds would smell and pursue the animals, while terriers would burrow into the holes and make the final kill. Demand arose for a dog that combined the best of both the breeds, and the Airedale was born. Continue reading “Airedale Terrier Versatility”

Training your Airedale – Airedale Terrier Training

Does your dog listen to commands outside, off leash, under distraction, in the presence of other dogs? Does your dog pull you down the street to meet an approaching pedestrian? Most dog owners never know the joy of a well trained dog, even though many go through training programs.

Airdales love the bush and being real dogs , I have had them for years , your right about not being over handled , very independent dog , but loyal , bloody naughty though ,,,personally wouldn’t own one in a city as they love being in the mix of stuff , not a excessory to ones hand bag , or brat kids , let them be what they are breed for , in the country on the back of trucks with their owner all day , not doggy daycare bullshit! Airedale Puppy Training – Airedale Terrier puppy training

Airedale Terriers are very smart dogs and therefore  usually easy to train. This video shows the training of a three-month-old Airedale Terrier puppy.

My personal observations about training and/or playing with in Airedale Terrier is that they do bore easily. Therefore, I would suggest not to linger on a single command for too long and have your training sessions at least once a day, always with multiple commands and plenty of treats. Airedale Terrier training – Teaching the Airedale Terrier tricks

This is an incredible video showing the training of an Airedale Terrier. Not only is the trainer and the Airedale Terrier performing incredible dog tricks, but, this Airedale  Terrier is one magnificent looking animal.

Naturally, before trying to teach your dog’s advanced tricks like shown in this video, make sure you have the basic dog training out of the way.

Because the Airedale Terrier is very smart, many times they can tick tick up a trick in just a handful of tries. Keep in mind that the Airedales get board easily, so do not linger too long on one trick or set of commands. Always use positive reinforcement and maintain a calm and confident attitude when training your Airedale. Continue reading “Airedale Terrier training”

Airedale Training

 Airedale Training – Germany

In the dog school near Berlin as well as near Leipzig the Airedale Terrier Balin was trained by the dog trainer team Uwe Krüger, Bettina Krüger and Joanna Bauer in the individual and group training.

The main focus of the training was elements in which the obedience of the dog and its behavior in the public, for example during the meeting with pedestrians, joggers and cyclists is checked. It was emphasized that the dog in everyday situations such as in the shopping center and in the park, is neutral to its environment and thus has grown into a relaxed family companion.

Dog training should not be about domination, but communication. Continue reading “Airedale Training”
