Arizona Mountain Airedale Terriers

Tova is a 14 week old Arizona Mountain Airedale Terrier. Her housemate is Teddy who is also a larger Airedale Terrier.

When Teddy first came to San Diego we had Annie who had just given birth to nine puppies about five months before Teddy arrived. Annie and Teddy were inseparable, and when we moved from San Diego to Arizona in November 2020 they were both exceedingly happy in their new house and their new big backyard. Larger Arizona Airedale Terrier

Airedale Terrier facts and opinion. Is the Airedale Terrier the ideal dog?

The Airedale Terrier gets its name from the Aire River valley, or dale, in Yorkshire where it was first bred. It was developed by crossing the Welsh terrier with the Otterhound in the mid-19th century to hunt otters and other rodents. Hounds and terriers were the dogs of choice on hunting trips in those days in England. Hounds would smell and pursue the animals, while terriers would burrow into the holes and make the final kill. Demand arose for a dog that combined the best of both the breeds, and the Airedale was born. Its talents at hunting are reflected in its strength, cleverness and boldness. Arizona Larger Airedale Terrier – Teddy the Mountain Airedale

Teddy is my larger Arizona Airedale Terrier, he will be two in a few weeks.

Besides mountain trail hikes, for exercise and socialization, I take Teddy to local off leash dog barks here in Peoria Arizona.

Naturally, one must exercise caution when taking their dogs off leash parks and also only do so if your dog is up-to-date on all their vaccinations. The larger Airedale Terriers need a lot of exercise and also do not like high temperatures. So, be sure to take your dog early in the morning or later in the evening, and most importantly, be sure to bring plenty of water for them.

Larger Mountain Airedales

Larger Mountain Airedales in California

These are a few photos of my two larger Airedale Terriers, any and Teddy. Annie’s six years old and Teddy is just 15 months old. In the photos, teddy is the taller one!

Originally, Annie came from Northern California and Teddy came from the Midwest. Annie weighs about 65 pounds, and so far Teddy weighs around 75 pounds. Annie spent 4 1/2 years with Oakley are 99 pound male Airedale Terrier. Oakley passed away in August at about 10 1/2 years old, and since then we’ve been a one dog family. But, as many of you already know we did breed Annie and she had nine puppies on January 2 of this year.

Eight Week Old Airedale Terrier Puppy leaves for Los Angeles

This is our eight week old Airedale Terrier puppy, Ms. Yellow (now Farfel) who headed to Brentwood in Los Angeles today. Farfel’s new human family has owned an Airedales in the past.
