The consensus was that Annie was going to give birth last evening January 1.
Unfortunately, nature and Annie didn’t cooperate.

It was quite a night, up and down, in and out of the house, panting and rearranging her bedding. Also she dug a little outside last night and also this morning.
Advice from the breeder was she may want to have her puppies outside, and just let her do it, pick up the first pup bring it in, she will follow and have the rest inside.
I wasn’t thrilled with that idea, but went along with it because I didn’t want to unintentionally hold up the birthing process by not letting her go out to the yard.
The two pictures of Annie this morning around 10 AM. My wife Judi, felt a couple of the pups moving around in Annie’s belly.

An Airedale’s coat was originally designed to protect the dog from its predators—the coat was designed to come out in the claws of the predator the dog was designed to hunt, leaving the dog unharmed. Because of this, some forms of skin dermatitis can respond to hand stripping the coat. Clipping the coat cuts the dead hair, leaving dead roots within the hair follicles. It is these dead roots which can cause skin irritations. However, hand stripping removes these dead roots from the skin and stimulates new growth.
