This off-leash dog park is located in the Encinitas Community Park. This is the first time Teddy, our 12 week old larger Airedale puppy had been to a dog park. There is a short video – Airedale Terrier Puppy Dog Park:
Our other Airedale Terrier is Annie, who is five years old.
Both Annie and Teddy had a great time at this off leash dog park. For Teddy, for his size and age, I was surprised that he seemed fearless with all the other larger dogs. Continue reading “Airedale Terrier Puppy Dog Park”

Teddy & Annie at 8 weeks old and 5 years old for Annie. Airedale Terrier puppies are real bundles of energy. They love to play, roughhouse and naturally get into mischief. At eight weeks old, their little teeth are like razors. Even though they’re just playing, you’re lucky to get a couple of days without getting a little puncture wound on your hand, your arm or your lower leg.
We tried to keep a lot of toys around for Teddy to keep them occupied and out of trouble. Well, perhaps I should say how to big trouble, because you can never keep an Airedale puppy completely out of trouble. It seems there’s always an article of clothing a pair of slippers or a newspaper that’s attacked by Teddy on a daily basis. I think the fact that he’s playing more and more with Annie these days, is keeping them out of real trouble. Continue reading “Airedale Terrier Puppy Play”
This video shows the arrival of our new large Airedale Terrier puppy, Teddy! Our new large Airedale Terrier puppy arrived on Alaska airlines all the way from the St. Louis airport.
I do want to say, that if you’re planning on getting a puppy or just shipping your dog by air, always check to see that you can get a nonstop flight. When I was checking I found that the airlines use the terminology direct flight which can be mistaken for nonstop. But, all the direct flights that I checked always had a stop and I didn’t want to put my new little Airedale through any unnecessary travel annoyances. Continue reading “Large Airedale Puppy”
The Airedale Terrier, like most Terriers, has been bred to hunt independently. As a result, the dog is very intelligent, independent, strong-minded, stoic, and can be stubborn.
If children and Airedales are both trained correctly, Airedale Terriers can be an excellent choice for a family dog. The Airedale can do well with cats and other small animals, especially when they are raised with them. Continue reading “Mountain Airedale Terrier Puppy”
There is nothing like an Airedale Terrier. You really can’t ever have another breed of dog!
The Airedale Terrier is known for his independence, patience, loyalty and courage. Be advised that when keeping your Airedale Terrier in a fenced in area, he will most likely try to tunnel his way free. Airedale Terriers possess strong working instincts and are favored by many families seeking a devoted and protective family dog. Continue reading “Airedale Terrier Puppy at 9 Weeks Old”
Our 92 Lb. Mountain Airedale watching our new 8 week old Mountain Airedale puppy in San Diego, California.
In the mid-19th century, some terriers near South Yorkshire’s River Aire were interbred with Otterhounds to enhance their scenting ability and hunting skills around water. This attempt resulted in bred known as the Waterside Terrier or Bingley, which was an expert in otter hunting. It was, however, only in 1878 that the breed was accepted as the Airedale Terrier.
