Airedale Terrier Versatility

Airedale Terrier Versatility

Airedale Terrier breeders Harriet and Hartmut Rosenthal show the amazing versatility of an Airedale Terrier.

Because of their intelligence the Airedale Terrier is a quick learner, but when training one must always be on the lookout for overdoing one set of actions or commands that can lead to classic Airedale boredom and stubbornness to continue.

It’s usually best to break up Airedale training sessions and to always vary the lessons.

The Airedale Terrier gets its name from the Aire River valley, or dale, in Yorkshire where it was first bred. It was developed by crossing the Welsh terrier with the Otterhound in the mid-19th century to hunt otters and other rodents. Hounds and terriers were the dogs of choice on hunting trips in those days in England. Hounds would smell and pursue the animals, while terriers would burrow into the holes and make the final kill. Demand arose for a dog that combined the best of both the breeds, and the Airedale was born. Continue reading “Airedale Terrier Versatility”

Dog vs Intruder

Dog vs Intruder

See this is what they don’t tell you: A dog does the same thing that an alarm would do and that is to make noise. What a dog also will likely do is if they see a burglar attacking the owner, they will almost certainly come to their rescue. Dogs don’t care about no xbox or jewelry but they are very protective of their owners.

Could it also be true that these dogs would sense a dangerous or negative energy in a person? This man is posing as an intruder but his intentions aren’t negative. Some dogs would respond to negative energy and would get very protective Continue reading “Dog vs Intruder”

Lifeguard Airedale Terrier

Talk about Airedale Terriers being very smart . . .

Lifeguard Airedale Terrier

This is a very short video with no talking. There is a text explanation at the beginning, and really that’s all that is needed.

The Airedale is a quick learner and can be trained very easily. But, it also gets bored quickly, and requires regular mental and physical stimulation. A long walk, a chance to romp through a safe area or a physically tiring game should be good enough for this. A bored Airedale is known to fill up a yard with holes in one evening. Smart Airedale Terrier

One Smart Airedale Terrier

This smart Airedal Terrier is bound and determined to keep her treasure. She found it, and she’s keepiin’ it! Airedales are problem solvers, and she figures out how to get it thru her doggie door.

What great dogs! I’m on my fourth Airedale. The thing I really like about this video is that at the end I swear she seems to be contemplating and thinking about how she’s going to solve this problem and then she comes up with a solution by grabbing the Styrofoam by the side instead of in the middle. I mean you can tell that she didn’t accidentally solve the problem but she figure it out in her head how to solve the problem. Continue reading “Smart Airedale Terrier”
