This is a good video on trimming your Airedale Terrier.
I’ve always been a do-it-yourselfer when it comes to grooming my two Mountain Airedale Terriers. Mostly,DIY grooming is out of necessity because I know that neither of my two Airedale’s would put up with professional grooming.
I think if you want to bring your hairdo and for professional grooming you should start when they’re a puppy so they get used to the experience. On the other hand, looking at videos like this, that go over the entire procedure, and getting a good set of electronic clippers, it’s really relatively easy to do this yourself. Walking my two Mountain Airedale Terriers in a local park here in the city of San Diego California. I used my new Samsung Gear 360°camera to film this.
My male Airedale Terrier, Oakley, is nine years old and that is last vet trip a couple weeks ago, he weighed in at 99 pounds! My female Airedale is Annie, who is about 2.5 years old and weighs about 55 pounds. If you go back and look at some of my videos with my Airedales here in San Diego, you see I film them in high definition, also in 4K resolution using an aerial video drone, and now with my new virtual reality camera.

Mountain Airedale Terriers are usually around 40/45 pounds or so, but, the larger Airedale Terrier also known as a mountain Airedale or an Oorang Airedale can weigh up to about 110 pounds!
My male Airedale Terrier in this video,Oakley, is 92 pounds! Personally, I think this is the ideal size for an Airedale Terrier. These larger Airedale Terriers are AKC registered but because they don’t meet the standard breed size requirements cannot be entered into any AKC sanctioned shows. My wife has allergies to cats & dogs. We now have two Mountain Airedales, and the wife has no issues with them. They are overall a smart dogs, but you should always spend time training them, they can be destructive if not.
My Airedales will bark at home when someone is outside (or a cat) and alert us if something isn’t right in their eyes. Although they both are very smart, dogs don’t understand friends and family and strangers. If it is someone they have not met before, they will consider them a stranger. If you want him / her to be a guard dog (basically just bark at what is outside) they are good for it, but if you want a protection dog, they need some training.
We take our two Mountain Airedale Terriers to Big Bear Lake. This is about 3 hours north of our home in San Diego California.

“King of Terriers”. Oorang Airedales, also known as Mountain Airedales, were first established around the 1920s by Walter Lingo. These larger Oorang Airedales, usually weighing 75-100+ pounds, were developed specifically for hunting. Airedales are a working breed and are happiest when the have a job to do for or with their owner.

Oorang Airedales
The Airedale Terrier is named after the river Aire, which runs through the surrounding valleys that this breed first originated from in Yorkshire England. The area was said to have a bigger problem with rats than usual so these larger dogs begin to become the Terrier of choice with the locals. The Airedale Terrier usually lives to be around 13 years old but they are known to suffer from genetic defects including problems with their hips and eyes. Continue reading “Oorang Airedales”
